Video taken down

As of April 15, 2013, James the Blooman Reacts to Pixie Lott has been removed from my YouTube account by yours truly and will soon be replaced by an upcoming video, entitled "If People Laid Eggs", which will have a similar concept to James lieks Mudkipz. I didn't realise I could stir up a bit of controversy just by filming myself getting infatuated up until now... It wasn't my intention to cause any kind of offense, but, alas, it just had to be done. Sorry, everyone.

Goodbye, Mayan Calendar

The Mayan Calendar ends here. But don't worry, I don't think the apocalypse is going to come later on today. We're probably just going to move on to a new calendar.

A Night at James' House

New video out now! A Night at James' House. In this video, I sing Flo Rida in the shower, talk to the camera, come up with my own version of Gangnam Style (Blooman Style) and play Angry Birds on Google Chrome.

How's it going?

Looking forward to Christmas? I sure am! I can't wait to get my hands on some awesome presents in 5 days time!

On my Christmas list:
A Nintendo Wii-U (with some games including New Super Mario Bros. U and Nintendo Land)
Angry Birds socks
A Tepig plush

I can't remember what else I asked for..

Ore wa James

A new video called "Ore wa James" (I'm James) or "Gratuitous Japanese" has been released on my YouTube page today. This is my first try at making a video entirely in Japanese. Watch it here.

As the video description will tell you:

"Though I gave it my best try in my video, like Magibon, I am not fluent in Japanese. I also have dyslexia while reading Japanese and rhotacism (aka Elmer Fudd Syndrome) when I speak it."

If you listen closely, you'll hear I pronounce "R" sounds strangely when speaking Japanese. It sounds like a "D" or an "L" sound (it is unknown which). Ironically, real Japanese people say their "L's" as "R's".

Let me give you an example.

2012 Art

2012 was known for 2 things, the London Olympics and the launch of this very blog. I also uploaded a lot of deviations this year, even more than my previous years on deviantART.

Let's start off with 4 works of art, made just in time for the 2012 Olympics!

Wenlock and Mandeville, the London 2012 mascots, as drawn by me. This picture is so well-drawn I feel like I could stare at it for hours. Yes, I am that proud of it.

I was rooting for Team GB like mad when the Olympics were on. Here's an amazing replica of the Union Jack. James the Blooman style!

This is a road sign I created at the time of the Olympic Torch Relay. Shame this sign didn't exist in real life...

I had never been so patriotic in my entire life.

Before the Olympics started, I made this little something for Easter (see below). It's a Tamago that looks like the Easter Bunny! And the Angry Birds make a cameo in the form of Easter eggs! Chuck was left out because he is triangular and I couldn't get him to look right as an Easter egg.

I made more fanart too. Here we have the Generation V Starter Pokémon (Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott) as the Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz.

When Nintendo announced this new type of Pikmin from Pikmin 3, I just had to create another bit of fanart.

Let's not forget my drawing of the Minions from Despicable Me. What could be funnier than a Minion's butt? A Minion even photocopies his own in the movie!

Now for some original characters created in 2012..

Here we have Nathan, the cat who can write on his tongue via salivation. Unfortunately, his grammar isn't great. Here he is taunting a Dobermann with his tongue. That's a bad idea, Nathan, that dog will fall for the taunt!

And here we have the foxy Rochelle, lying on her bed. Though she's wearing only a red thong, she has long Lady Godiva-like hair that covers her nipples. She's also pretty tall for a girl, at a height similar to that of a man! When this was first drawn, her feet were on the wrong legs, so I swapped her feet around after a deviantART user pointed this out.

Rochelle with her boyfriend Alex, who is slightly shorter and 3 years younger than her.

Mixing my art with a live-action texture, this puddle of mysterious white goo on the surface of a table is an awesome wallpaper. Click here to check it out in its full-sized glory!

Check out these Halloween-themed deviations I made this year!

It's more than just the look of this creepy bald man that is intimidating...

I sure know how to make a Jack o' Lantern look scary as hell.

Hey, it's Octofluff again! As a vampire for Halloween!

There are a plethora of Fakemon ideas on deviantART, so I decided to make my own. Level Down lowers the stats of all foes to make it look as if they've gone back down to the previous level.

Mr. Angst. He's real emo. And yes, he's crying blood in that picture. It happens whenever he gets scared. The Scream by Edvard Munch inspired me to make this.

Time for one more..

I made this in college. Merry Christmas everybody!

2011 Art

In 2011, I spent the least amount of time on deviantART so far, submitting only a few additions to my gallery. In fact, I focused more on the forum section of the website, joining in some other people's topics as well as posting my own.

This is the first time I've drawn a male person on Paint. Also, notice my drawing skills are starting to improve, as the girl's bare feet are on the right legs. Her belly button is a little bit too high though..

2011 was also the year Pokémon Black and White was released, marking the introduction of Generation V. This is fanart I made depicting the new Steel-type Klink, peeking out of the hood of a car (or is that a truck?), apparently providing power to it.

Have I left you wanting more? Don't worry, I'll show you my artwork from this year later on today.

2010 Art

2010 was one heck of a year for me. I left school that summer and started my course at college on September. I also created more submissions for my deviantART on that year.

The first original character I created this year was the Ninjin Ninja, modelled after the very similar Carrot Man (created by me in my early days). Here, he is guarding Sakura cheese from the clutches of ninja mice. Ninjin (ニンジン) means "carrot" in Japanese.

Here's what Carrot Man looked like. See the resemblance? He was the first superhero I ever created, as well as my first unreleased character. When I came up with the idea, I thought it would be cool to give him a spiky hairdo, reminiscent of punks and Sonic the Hedgehog. Dragon Ball Z also featured cool spiky hair, so that's another influence.

Another original character I created was Gumley, a guy with plenty of missing teeth (hence the name) who takes up different jobs and roles. Think of him as the equivalent of Mona from WarioWare. He's ugly cute, a real gentleman and I need to give him more attention...

Every Easter, Tamago ("egg" in Japanese) have starred in at least one deviation. The only non-Easter deviation they've appeared in so far is For the Birds (see 2009 Art).

On Valentine's Day, I created 2 new deviations for the occassion. One of them is a direct sequel to the Valentine's deviation from the previous year.

Eww.. gross. WarioWare inspired me to make this.

This one was made after watching gameplay videos of the Japan-only GBA game "Rhythm Tengoku" on YouTube. There's a similar game on Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise on the Wii, but in that game, you slice black ghosts instead of little hopping creatures with tengu masks.

Meet my third original character from 2010, Leah. She's a shy teenager who idolizes Japan. Back in the day, I didn't draw humans much. Notice her feet are on the wrong legs and her right hand is smaller than her left? This was made before my human-drawing skills improved. 2 years later, Leah got her own comic strip. I got a warm, fuzzy feeling creating it and reading it afterwards.

This is my first stab at fanart and my most popular deviation. It is basically my Pikmin ideas for the upcoming Wii-U game Pikmin 3 and was released long before Nintendo finally announced said game. To find out what abilities these new colors have, read the image's description on deviantART.

Here's some more fanart. It's the most famous Ghost-type Pokémon, Gastly!

Here are a couple of fictional beers I came up with. Builder's Butt was the first brand I ever came up with and it cracked me up when I asked my self, "What if there was a beer called Builder's Butt?" In real life, I had my first beer on November 1, 2009, one month after my 18th birthday.

I made this for E-safety at college. Soon thereafter, it appeared on a poster for E-Safety Thursdays that was put up all over the college. If you look closely, you'll see my real last name.

More Pokémon fanart. It's Wobbuffet, the funny, but painfully slow Psychic-type with nothing but counterattacks in its movepool.

Finally, here's 2010's Christmas deviation. It's what the RSPCA and other animal activism charities always tell you at Christmas time.

Well, that's everything for now. Stay tuned for art I made in 2011!

2009 Art

Back in January 2009, I joined deviantART, where I uploaded works of art and character designs I made on Microsoft Paint. At the time, I was 17. Here is some of my art from that year. For more, go here: http://theblooman.deviantart.com

This is the very first deviation I ever uploaded, although it is not the first drawing I made on Paint.. It's called For the Birds. Not to be confused with the Pixar short of the same name.
I created this one while I was at school, on a computer in my free time.

The Holiday Lizard was also created on a school computer. This one is actually older than the above because I made it first.
2009 was also the year I created Octofluff, one of my favorite original characters. I didn't come up with this idea alone, I created him at a school friend's request for a drawing of a sheep with 8 legs.

Octofluff doesn't like being stripped of his wool..

And here's a Christmas style replica of the earliest computer-drawn image of Octofluff:

My imagination was so vivid, I created other original characters.

I also came up with bottle/can designs of fictional drinks.

And holiday-themed deviations too.

For Valentine's Day.

For Halloween.

For Christmas.

And finally, let's not forget these:

This is the Creditcrunchersaurus, a giant robot dinosaur created at the time of the credit crunch in the UK.

This could be a game. Or an animated short.

Homestar Runner is what greatly inspired this anime-styled deviation.

That's all for now. See you next time!
